What's a max bid?

A rare and well-presented pair of signed photographs of notable First World War fighter aces, including one depicting Oberleutnant Max Immelmann (15 victories), in uniform and with an array of decorations visible, bearing a Leipzig studio mark, the lower half of the image overlaid by Immelmann’s handwritten signature in clear black ink, flanked by one depicting then-Leutnant Oswald Boelcke (40 victories), in uniform and with the Pour le Mérite and other decorations visible, printed as part of a series of notable wartime figures by the firm of W. Sanke, Berlin, the lower half of the image overlaid by Boelcke’s handwritten signature in clear black ink, both affixed to a black card stock backer with handwritten captions, in turn pasted to a larger backer bearing an inscription of “KOMMANDEUR JAGDGESCHWADER OFFIZIERSKASINO”, set within a period original wooden frame retaining a glass face and with gilded floral designs throughout, the reverse retaining a card stock backer bearing a handwritten dedication from Feldflieger-Abteilung 52 and sealed with a staff officer stamp, the frame measuring 325 mm (w) x 265 mm (h), an exceptional wartime display in extremely fine condition.
