Germany, Luftstreitkräfte. A Rare Wartime Signed & Framed Postcard of Fighter Ace Oswald Boelcke with Memorial Ring

A rare wartime signed postcard of fighter ace Oswald Boelcke, depicted in uniform and with the Pour le Mérite and other decorations clearly visible, the lower half of the image overlaid by Boelcke’s handwritten signature in clear blue ink, the postcard part of the notable figures of the First World War series published by W. Sanke of Berlin, the card has been cut down and measures 79 mm (w) x 124 mm (h), contained with a period silver frame, the obverse presenting with ribbed borders and an original and fully intact glass face, with a lacquered wooden backer complete with stand which slides for easy access to the card, the bottom edge of the frame mark with a silver content number of “835” and the hallmark of an unidentified manufacturer, a rare dedicated image in a presentable and extremely fine condition; accompanied by a commemorative Pilot’s Badge ring, constructed of silver, the exterior bearing a central raised depiction in the form of an of oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, the interior bearing an engraved inscription of “HAUPTMANN BOELCKE”, corresponding to a size 9.5, weighing 4.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
