Germany, Imperial. A Visor Cap by C. Schöppe
(Schirmmütze). A visor cap constructed of navy blue wool, with a row of piping constructed of red-white-black thread along the top edge, a blue wool band that travels the circumference of the cap, with a black painted cockade on the front, below that another row of piping with the same tri-colour thread, the visor is constructed of black Vulkanfiber, the underside of which is brown and cross-hatched, marked in pencil by the previous owner, the headband is leather and the dome is black rayon with the maker’s mark at the centre stating “C. Schöppe of Bielefeld,” measuring approximately 25 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 7.5 cm (h), presenting minor contact marks and very light wear, maintains original period look, and in extremely fine condition.
