A 1901 China Service Medal Bar to the 37th Infantry Regiment - Imperial Bar to Landwehr-Infanterie Reg. No.37 Paul Pfenning - Iron Cross, 2nd Class (iron, magnetic, 42 mm); Imperial: Hindenburg Cross for Combatants (bronze, maker marked "AD. B. L." on the reverse, 37 mm); Prussia: Life Saving Medal (silver, 25 mm); Imperial: China Campaign Medal 1900 (bronze, 32.6 mm); and Prussia: Reserve Long Service Medal, 2nd Class (bronze, 25 mm). Original ribbons, mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, extremely fine. Accompanied by four award documents: The document for the China Medal reads: With God for Kaiser and Reich across the top, and below by the order of the King and Kaiser, his highness awards to Paul Pfenning, in recognition of his meritorious participation in the Expedition to China, the commemorative medal in bronze. October 13, 1901. The document was once folded in quarter and shows slight signs of wear. The document for the Prussian lifesaving medal is signed in Belin on May 13, 1912. It was also folded in quarter but is in overall fine condition.Third is a Bestowal Document for the Iron Cross. Awarded for brave and dashing conduct in the war 1914/1915 on the Eastern Front in Russian-Poland, signed July 1st, 1915, creased but in overall fine condition. In 1935 he was awarded the Hindenburg Cross, the document was issued by the region of Sprottau, in the town of Sagan. Folded in half but generally fine.
