A first war German medal bar grouping of three awards, consisting of
1) An Iron Cross 1914 Second Class “Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse”; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse with a central oak-leaf branch consisting of three oak leaves, with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbers on the lower arm, a raised Prussian crown on the upper arm, with “FW” in equally raised lettering directly below; measuring 43.35 mm x 43.78 mm.
2) A Saxon General Wartime Service Medal in silver with its crossed sword clasp; a silver medal; the obverse with a leftward facing bust of Großherzog Wilhelm Ernst of Saxony, circumscribed by his name; the reverse with a closed oak leaf wreath, inscribed “Dem Verdienste 1914” within the wreath; measuring 36.04 mm in diameter.
3) Hindenburg Cross; in bronzed metal (magnetic); maker marked “B.H.L” on the reverse; measuring 37.12 mm x 37.09 mm; mounted on a medal bar; magnetic core; red wool backer; horizontal pinback; measuring 98 mm x 38 mm; overall extremely fine condition.
