A Medical and SS Faithful Service Medal Bar
Prussia: Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914 (silver frame, with iron core, magnetic, 42.8 mm); Bavaria: Military Merit Order, Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (zinc with a copper coloured gilt, 42.7 mm x 46.5 mm); Imperial: Hindenburg Cross for Combatants (iron with a bronze-coloured gilt, magnetic, maker marked "L. NBG." (Christian Lauer, Nürnberg) on the reverse, 37.5 mm); Bavaria: Merit Cross for Medical Volunteers (silver with red, white and blue enamels, 35 mm); Prussia: Red Cross Medal, 3rd Class (bronze, 33.2 mm); Bavaria: Cross for Volunteers in Military Medical Service (bronze with red enamels, 33.8 mm); and Third Reich: SS Faithful Service 4th Class Iron Medal for Four Years' Service (blackened bronze, 38 mm, by Deschler). As originally mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, original ribbons, exhibiting chipping in the blue enamels on the centrepiece ring of the Bavarian Merit Cross for Medical Volunteers, the swords suspension loose on the Bavarian Merit Cross 2nd Class, near extremely fine.
