Germany. An Imperial Bavarian Medal Bar
A Imperial Bavarian medal bar grouping of four medals, consisting of 1) A War Merit Cross First Class with Swords; constructed of silver gilt; with swords attached to the top arm of the cross; measuring 43.29 mm x 43.60 mm; weighing 19.8 grams. 2) An Iron Cross 1914; “Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse”; a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border; on loop for suspension - marked “W&S” for “Wagner & Sohn, Berlin”; the obverse with a raised central “W”, with the re-institution date “1914” in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm; the reverse with a central oak-leaf branch consisting of three oak leaves, with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbers on the lower arm, a raised Prussian crown on the upper arm, with “FW” in equally raised lettering directly below; measuring 42.77 mm x 43.33 mm; weighing 18.6 grams. 3) A Bavarian Military Long Service Medal for 9 Years of Service; in German “newsilver”; on loop for suspension; unmarked; measuring 33.15 mm in diameter; weighing 18.1 grams. 4) A Hindenburg Cross; in bronzed metal (magnetic); on loop for suspension; maker marked “Reichsverband Pforzheim, 83” on the reverse; measuring 37.76 mm x 37.76 mm; weighing 13.6 grams. All with their respective ribbons mounted onto a medal bar; zink core (non-magnetic); horizontal pinback 111 mm x 28 mm; the ribbons soiled, but the medal bar in overall near very fine condition.
