Germany, Imperial. A First War Period Medal Pair, by J. Reimann
(Ordenschnalle). A medal bar with two decorations, including a German Honour Legion Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with an angel crowning a German soldier, the reverse with a 1914 Iron Cross circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR DAGERLAND”, unmarked, measuring 32.09 mm (w) x 35.72 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition, and; a Prussian War Memorial Cross, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with clasp inscribed “2. BAYR. PION. BAT.”, consisting of a Lilies Cross, the obverse with a central monogram, the three and nine o’clock arms with an inscription of “TREUE DEM REGIMENT” (“FAITHFUL TO THE REGIMENT”), the six o’clock arm with a Prussian eagle, the twelve o’clock arm with a Stahlhelm (Steel Helmet), the reverse with a central Hohenzollern eagle, the three and nine o’clock arms with an inscription of “ALLZEIT BEREIT” (“AT ALL TIMES READY”), the six o’clock arm with three oak leaves, the twelve o’clock arm with crossed swords, measuring 39.55 mm (w) x 43.89 mm (h), in better than very fine condition; both set on a 70 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, maker marked on the reverse “J. Reimann, Ordenshaus, Berlin W8 Friedrichstr. 188”, in near extremely fine condition.
