The Honor cross was additionally added to the medal bar, likely in late 1930's, on top of Allied Victory medal ribbon; the bar was originally mounted with (most likely) French Victory medal by "Sedladzek, Berlin" (label on reverse), probably during 1920's. Then, most probably during the 1930's after receiving Honor Cross, the recipient removed the Allied Victory medal and mounted Honor cross. In our opinion the recipient was likely a French POW, but decided to help the Allied cause in some capacity, and was therefore entitled to the Victory medal. As sentiment in Germany changed during the mid 1930's, removing an Allied Victory medal from the medal bar was an obvious decision. All affixed to a 150 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback and red wool reverse liner, maker marked “FRIEDR. SEDLATZEK, PFORZHEIM”, in overall near extremely fine condition.
