A medal bar for a Bavarian First World War veteran featuring five decorations, including a Bavarian Military Merit Order, IV Class with Swords, constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with blue enameled arms joined through the quadrants by stylized flames, the obverse bearing a central black enameled medallion overlaid by a gilt monogram of King Ludwig II, within a stylized white enameled belt bearing a gilt inscription of “MERENTI” (“MERIT”) with arabesques, the twelve o’clock arm fastened with a crossed sword clasp, the reverse bearing a central black enameled medallion bearing a gilt Bavarian lion rampant, within a stylized white enameled belt bearing a gilt institution date of “1866” with arabesques, the reverse of the swords maker marked with the logo of Gebrüder Hemmerle, Munich, and a silver content number of “800”, measuring 41.30 mm (w) x 49.44 mm (h), weighing 29.4 grams; a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 42.82 mm (w) x 46.68 mm (h), weighing 19.7 grams; a Kyffhäuser League Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse designer marked “HOSAEUS”, measuring 31.11 mm (w) x 47.29 mm (h), weighing 16.7 grams; a German Honour Legion Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with combatant’s device, unmarked, measuring 32.11 mm (w) x 36.02 mm (h), weighing 14.8 grams, and; a Bavarian Long Service Medal, III Class for 9 Years, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 33.05 mm in diameter, weighing 16.5 grams; all suspended from a 150 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a dark blue wool reverse liner and horizontal pinback, unmarked, with minor oxidation and soiling evident to the medals and ribbons, respectively, in near extremely fine condition.
