Germany, Imperial. A Pair of Medal Bars
(Ordensschnallen). A pair of medal bars, with one featuring three decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop maker marked “KO” for the Berlin Mint, measuring 42.80 mm (w) x 48.10 mm (h), weighing 16.3 grams, in better than very fine condition; an Honour Cross of the World War 1914-1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with central wreathed dates 1914-1918, with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the reverse maker marked “L. NBG.” for L. Christian Lauer, Nuremberg, measuring 37.65 mm (w) x 41.85 mm (h), weighing 14.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition, and; a Hungarian War Service Medal, constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Hungarian coat of arms, on top of crossed swords and within a laurel and oak leaf wreath, the reverse bearing a raised Stahlhelm, above dates “1914-1918” and topped by an inscription of “PRO DEO ET PATRIA” (“FOR GOD AND COUNTRY”), unmarked, measuring 36.95 mm in diameter, weighing 20.7 grams, in better than very fine condition, set on a 75 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in near extremely fine condition, and; one with two decorations, including a Bavarian War Merit Cross, III Class with Swords, constructed of coppered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Ludwig IIm within a stylized belt bearing an inscription of “MERENTI” (“MERIT”), the twelve o’clock arm overlaid by crossed swords, the reverse bearing a central raised Bavarian lion rampant, within a stylized belt bearing a date of “1866” with arabesques, unmarked, measuring 42.85 mm (w) x 48.92 mm (h), weighing 19.3 grams, in near extremely fine condition, and; a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse bearing a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 42.90 mm (w) x 45.97 mm (h), weighing 19.5 grams, with some oxidation evident, in overall very fine condition, both set on a 72 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in very fine condition.
