Germany, Third Reich. An Imperial and Third Reich Period Medal Bar to a Police Officer
(Ordensschnalle). An extensive medal bar featuring seven Imperial and Third Reich period decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 42.05 mm (w) x 46.10 mm (h); an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse marked “KM & F” for an unidentified manufacturer, measuring 37.60 mm (w) z 42.42 mm (h); an Ordnungspolizei Long Service Decoration, I Class for 25 Years, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with device, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central Ordnungspolizei insignia, the reverse bearing a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked, measuring 42.98 mm (w) x 48.18 mm (h); a German Olympic Commemorative Medal, constructed of magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central Olympic column topped by rings and overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn flanked by a date of “1936”, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTVOLLE MITARBEIT BEI DEN OLYMPISCHEN SPIELEN 1936” (“FOR MERITORIOUS ASSISTANCE TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES OF 1936”), measuring 37.06 mm in diameter; an Austrian War Commemorative Medal for Combatants, constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a First Republic-style Austrian national eagle clutching a coat of arms, above an inscription of “FÜR ÖSTERREICH” (“FOR AUSTRIA”), the reverse bearing wreathed dates “1914-1918”, unmarked, measuring 36.10 mm in diameter; a Hungarian War Commemorative Medal, the obverse bearing a wreathed coat of arms of the Kingdom of Hungary, the reverse bearing a central wreathed Stahlhelm above dates “1914-1918”, topped by an inscription of “PRO DEO ET PATRIA” (“FOR GOD AND COUNTRY”), unmarked, measuring 36.90 mm in diameter, and; a Bulgarian War Commemorative Medal, the obverse bearing a central wreathed coat of arms of the Kingdom of Bulgaria, on top of crossed swords, the reverse bearing wreathed dates “1915-1918”, unmarked, measuring 32.08 mm in diameter; all affixed to a 194 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback and dark green wool reverse liner, unmarked, with only minor and sporadic oxidation evident to the ferrous decorations, a superb medal bar in overall extremely fine condition.
