A high-quality museum exhibition example of a 1914 Breast Star of the Grand Cross to the Iron Cross, the obverse consisting of a gilded bronze eight-pointed radiant star, overlaid by a central 1914 Iron Cross consisting of a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse of the star with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 89.58 mm (w) x 88.89 mm (h), weighing 71.0 grams, in extremely fine condition.
