Germany, Imperial. A 1914 Iron Cross I Class, Rare One-Piece Magnetic Version
(Eisernes Kreuz 1914 I. Klasse). Reinstituted 5 August 1914 by Kaiser Wilhelm II. (1914-1918 issue). Constructed of magnetic metal, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with a ribbed frame, with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with a central threaded lug retaining a period original backplate and nut, unmarked, measuring 43.28 mm (w) x 42.85 mm (h), weighing 25.7 grams, with loss of black painted finish to the core, a rare one-piece magnetic screwback version in very fine condition.
