Germany, Imperial. A 1914 Iron Cross, II Class in Silver Frame
(Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2. Klasse). A cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central W under an Imperial crown, and institution date 1914 in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse centre with a branch of three oak leaves below the crowned initials FW, with the original institution date 1813 in raised numbering on the lower arm, measuring 43.56 mm (w) x 47.36 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, and in very fine condition, presented in a silver picture frame, measuring 16.3 cm (w) x 24 cm (h), and in good condition.
