Constructed of silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, marked “M.H.F.” (unknown maker) on suspension loop, with black and white ribbon, measuring 42.95 mm (w) x 47.48 mm (h), weighing 18.1 grams, very fine.
A 1914 Iron Cross II Class Award Document to Unteroffizier Schleif of the 1st Company 27th Engineer Battalion, on cream coloured paper. With an image of a 1914 Iron Cross at the top. Dated 20 January 1916, stamped and signed. Presenting three folding creases. With some discoloration, creasing and tearing throughout. The reverse is taped at the bottom. Measuring 195 mm (w) x 160 mm (h), fine.
