(Eiserne Kreuze). A pair of 1914 Iron Crosses, including a 1914 Iron Cross, I Class, a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central W with the re-institution date 1914 in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm, the reverse with a vertical pinback, a barrel hinge, and a thick round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 42.97 mm (w) x 43.15 mm (h), weighing 13.4 grams, presenting loss of black enamel and moderate rusting, and in good condition. A 1914 Iron Cross, II Class, a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central W, with the re-institution date 1914 in raised numbering on the lower arm, and the royal crown on the upper arm, the reverse centre with a branch of three oak leaves below the crowned initials FW, with the original institution date 1813 in raised numbering on the lower arm, maker marked KO on ring for Königliche Münzamt Orden, Berlin, measuring 42.94 mm (w) x 43.03 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original ribbon, and in very fine condition.
