Germany, Empire. A Widows Cross Medal Pair
(Ordensschnalle). A medal ribbon bar featuring two decorations, including an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Participants, constructed of blackened magnetic iron, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse maker marked “P. &. C. L.” for Paulmann & Crone, Lüdenscheid, measuring 37.36 mm (w) x 41.94 mm (h), and; a Bavarian Golden Wedding Medal, constructed of silvered iron, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse with rightward-facing profiles of King Ludwig III and Queen Therese, above an inscription of “WEIHNACHTEN 1918”, the reverse with an inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE GOLDENE HOCHZEIT 20 FEBR. 1918” (“IN COMMEMORATION OF THE GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY 20. FEBR. 1918”), unmarked, measuring 37.97 mm in diameter; both set on a 55 mm-long zink bar with a horizontal pinback and dark green wool backer, unmarked, in overall better than very fine condition.
