Prussia. An Imperial First War Observer’s Badge, by C. E. Juncker of Berlin
A first war “Prussian” “Beobachterabzeichen”; in silver (marked “800” with the crescent moon; with an enameled square insignia consisting of white, black, and red enamels mounted to the center of the badge via two hooks on the reverse; the square insignia placed within a bed of sun rays and a wreath consisting of oak and laurel leaves, and with a bow on the bottom, and a Prussian crown on the top of the wreath; maker marked “C. E. Juncker, Berlin” on the reverse; measuring 45.72 mm (w) x 71.33 mm (h); weighing 32.6 grams. Accompanied by a photograph depicting a Lieutenant of the 235 Fliegertruppe; the reverse reads “Erinnerung Lt. der Reserve am 24 April 1917 tödlich abgestürzt” (German - In remembrance. Leutennant of the Reserve fatally crashed on April 24th, 1917); measuring 87 mm (w) x 138 mm (h); the badge with a small piece of red enamels flaked off; in overall better than very fine condition.
