Germany. A Mint Imperial Black Grade Wound Badge in its Packet of Issue
An example of a mint and unissued Imperial German First War Period black grade wound badge “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped blackened bronze; a “cut-out” example without a pebbled background, with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, sheet metal hinge, and a flat catch; measuring 38.42 mm (w) x 43.56 mm (h); weighing 7.0 grams. Accompanied by its original packet of issue with “Verwundetenabzeichen in schwarz” printed in black Gothic lettering on the obverse; measuring 73 mm (w) x 87 mm (h); in mint and unissued condition.
