A 238th Infantry Division Bravery Medal for the Battle of Gillemont-Ferme
A medal issued to Unteroffizier Sommer of the 7th Kompanie Infantrie-Regiment 464 in memory of his brave service at the Battle of Gillemont-Ferme (24.4.1917); with ribbon loop; silvered iron; measuring 38 mm and 3 mm thick; some wear from age but better than fine condition. Footnote: The 238th Division was formed at Lockstedt Camp near Hamburg at the beginning of January 1917 and was recruited from the 9th and 19th Corps District. After training for almost three months, the division left for France in early April 1917.
