(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of five First World War patriotic badges, including:

1. A large Central Powers brooch, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a semi-oval floral border, surrounding a central enameled shield bearing the flags of the Ottoman Empire, Austria, Hungary, and Germany, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 34 mm (w) x 26 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

2. A Dual Alliance badge, constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a shield with an Austrian flag scheme, defaced by Hungarian and German flags situated above an inscription of “VIRIBUS UNITIS” (“WITH UNITED FORCES”), the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 20 mm (w) x 20 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

3. A Dual Alliance pendant badge, constructed of silvered bronze, horizontal pinback, unmarked, in extremely fine condition.

4. A Central Powers Iron Cross badge, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse with red enameled arms bearing an inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS 1915” (“GOD WITH US 1915”), overlaid by a central silvered medallion bearing raised and rightward-facing profiles of Emperor Franz Joseph, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and Sultan Mehmed V, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 23 mm (w) x 23 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

5. A first war year badge, constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a central Germanic eagle surrounded by 1914 Iron Crosses, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 24 mm (w) x 24 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

6. Also including a ribbon bar featuring two decorations, including a 1914 Iron Cross II Class and an Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants, set on a 30 mm-long magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, in extremely fine condition.
