Constructed of a silvered bronze alloy with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, presents as Maltese Cross with black and white enameled obverse with central ring inscribed “Verdun 1914-1918”, crossed enameled bronze alloy swords pinned to obverse of ribbon, maker marked on reverse “Fleck & Sohn, Hamburg”, measuring 40 mm (h) x 39 mm (w), in near extremely fine condition.
