A First War Prussian Pilot’s Badge by Meybauer of Berlin
A fine quality example of a first war Prussian Pilot’s (Flugzeugführer) badge; in nickel-silver; hollow construction; the obverse with the standard pilot’s badge motive with very fine details within a wreath consisting of oak and laurel leaves; a bow on the bottom with a Prussian crown at the top; vertical pinback with a barrel hinge and a breather hole underneath the round wire catch, and one above the hinge; maker marked “M” for “Paul Meybauer, Berlin” on the reverse; measuring 72.53 mm x 45.60 mm; weighing 26.3 grams; in overall extremely fine condition.
