(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). A prinzen-sized badge, constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a finely-detailed oval laurel and oak wreath tied together at the bottom by a bowtie-style ribbon, the obverse with a central monoplane flying over a rural landscape, topped by a German State Crown, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, measuring 30.55 mm (w) x 48.01 mm (h), weighing 21.7 grams, circa 1917, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: This badge was privately gilded and would normally be silver colored, as gilded badges were issued to Naval pilots, and are of different design.
