Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Observer’s Badge
(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom with a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, bearing a central multi-coloured enamel applique consisting of a red square overlaid by a central black and white checkered square, set over a ribbed field, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.75 mm (w) x 72.04 mm (h), weighing 28.2 grams, with minor oxidation and some loosening of the applique evident, in near extremely fine condition.
