Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Observer’s Badge
(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silvered brass with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central red enameled square with a black and white checkered centrepiece, superimposed on a ribbed background, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the pinback maker marked with a square punch insignia for an unconfirmed manufacturer, measuring 44.15 mm (w) x 71.66 mm (h), weighing 24.1 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident, in extremely fine condition.
