Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Observer’s Badge
(Beobachterabzeichen). Constructed of silvered brass with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central applique consisting of a red enameled square with a black and white checkered centrepiece, set on a ribbed background, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44.77 mm (w) x 72.00 mm (h), weighing 28.2 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident, in extremely fine condition.
