Germany, Imperial. A Prussian Pilot’s Badge
(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom with a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the reverse of the crown bearing a silver content number of “935”, otherwise unmarked, measuring 44.42 mm (w) x 71.10 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, demonstrating a striking patina throughout, in extremely fine condition.
