A "Hands Off The German Saarland" Pennant
Two red cotton fields sewn back-to-back, an oval cotton patch printed in four colours and sewn in place via black threading to the red cotton field on both sides, the oval on the obverse illustrating an arm at the right with a white sleeve rolled up and wearing a Third Reich NSDAP armband, the right hand on the arm grasping the wrist of another arm at the left, the sleeve of the second bearing the colours of the French Republic and its left hand attempting to grab the Saarland, a map of the Saarland in the background, inscribed "HÄNDE WEG DIE DEUTSCHE SAAR" at the upper left and "ZUM DEUTSCHEN VATERLAND" at the right, the oval on the reverse illustrating a right hand in the German colours of black, white and red, with the index and middle finger, along with the thumb raised and pledging allegiance, a map of the Saarland in the background, inscribed "SCHWÖRT UND SPRECHT" above, "RECHT BLEIBT RECHT" to the left, "WAHR BLEIBT WAHR" to the right, and " "DEUTSCH DIE SAAR" " below, brass rings sewn in place at the top and bottom of the hoist sleeve, 157 mm x 255 mm, very light spotting, near extremely fine.
