A Pair of Luftwaffe Fur Lined Flight Boots

This is a well preserved pair of standard issue “Flieger Pelzstiefel” constructed of multiple panels of black glossy and suede leather. The uppers are constructed of five brushed leather panels, sewn together with a sturdy double-stitch, using 20 mm wide glossy leather straps on the front and rear of the boot for reinforcement. Towards the top of the shaft is a 20 mm wide glossy leather pull strap to ensure a snug fit to the wearer’s calf, using a metal adjustment slider. Both boots feature a large zipper running along the entire length of the shaft with a leather flap covering the zipper from the inside. The right boot also features an additional extended horizontal tab reaching across the zipper, with a male and female snap-button, to prevent the zipper from opening. The left boot once had the same assembly, but it is now missing, only leaving the male end of the snap-button. The foot portion of the boots are constructed of two glossy leather panels with a large forward panel by the instep and a smaller rear panel covering the heel. Reaching from both sides of the heel, each boot features an additional 20 mm wide glossy leather strap that reaches across the instep, both with an adjustment slider for comfort. The interior of the boots are completely lined in white lambs fleece, including the entire shaft, foot portion, and insole. The sole consists of a multi-layered rubber compound sewn on the welt of the shoe, using thick twine. Although both boots once possessed a full stacked heel, it appears the the wearer has worn them down, making the sole appear flat. The boots are unmarked, and measure 440 mm from the sole to the top of the shaft, and 330 mm from heel to toe. Overall, this is a pair of Luftwaffe boots that was worn during active duty, as is visible from the worn heels, wear marks on the toe sections, as well as scattered rub spots on the interior of the boot. In as-found condition.
