Germany. A Wehrmacht Heer/Army Musik Korps Kettle Drum Skirt
A shield-shaped Wehrmacht Heer/Army Musik Korps kettle drum skirt crafted out of bright red cotton, mounted on white cloth, with a red backer. The obverse of the drum skirt is decorated with a 14 mm wide black/white coloured strip running along the curved edge of the skirt, as well as a 3 mm wide fine aluminum double braided strip approximately 22 mm from the edge. The lower part of the curved edge is also decorated with 40 mm long silver bullion fringes, attached to the reverse to 7 mm wide trim. The face of the drum skirt features a yellow print of a Wehrmacht eagle clutching an oak leaf wreath with a swastika positioned in the centre of the wreath, with aluminum wire forming the outlines of the shapes. The obverse of the top part of the shield-shaped drum skirt is decorated with multiple strips of black, red, white, and brown fabric, as well as a 13 mm wide strip of interlaced silver bullion wire running straight across the top side, approximately 4 mm from the edge. The reverse of the top part of the drum skirt is constructed out of two strips of 24 mm wide heavy and coarse buckram-type material. The kettle drum skirt measures 341 mm x 305 mm, not including its fringes, with moderate mothing on the obverse side, but appears overall near very fine condition.
