Germany, Kriegsmarine. A General Admiral’s Flag
(Generaladmiralsflagge). This is a very well-preserved, Second War period, Kriegsmarine General Admiral’s flag, constructed of multi-coloured cotton twill. The flag bears a black Iron Cross-style Cross Pattée, with gold crossed swords at the bottom leg. The left edge features a pocket with a twine rope for attachment. The edge features a handwritten black inscription reading “ERIC RAEDER - GEN. LUCIUS CLAY” and a black stamp reading “General-Adm. 1,5 x 1,5,”. The flag is otherwise unmarked and measures 149 mm (w) x 144 mm (h). Minor soiling and material fatigue is evident, but it is in an otherwise better than very fine condition.
