Germany, Third Reich. A Large State Service Flag
(Reichsdienstflagge). A well-preserved Reichsdienstflagge (State Service Flag), constructed of a sturdy red cotton/linen twill. It features double-sided white cotton discs bearing a ribbed black static swastika, with double-sided NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching mobile swastikas situated at the upper hoist corner of both sides, similarly executed in black and white. The hoist edge is reinforced with a white webbed canvas with a hollow channel from top to bottom for the addition of a rope or other suspension apparatus. Unmarked, the flag measures 15 ft. 10 x 9 ft. 9. Moderate soiling and material fatigue consistent with age and display are evident, but the flag demonstrates no notable damage and remains in a near extremely fine condition.
