Germany, RAD. A Reich Labour Service Commemorative Plaque and Booklet to Georg Hilpert
(Reichsarbeitsdienst Erinnerungsplakette mit Buch). A unique Reich Labour Service (RAD) commemorative plaque, constructed of a black-painted wooden base and magnetic metal base, topped by a magnetic metal suspension loop, the obverse featuring a silvered bronze plaque bearing a central German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, in turn overlaid by a central RAD insignia, above an inscription of "ARBEIT ADELT" ("LABOUR ENNOBLES"), set above a plaque bearing a unit inscription of "4/112 (S VI) NÜNSCHWEILER A", the reverse featuring a paper booklet insert, the cover bearing a black-and-white studio photo of the owner in a HJ uniform, above an inscription of "ZUR ERINNERUNG AN MEINE ARBEITSDIENSTZEIT" ("IN MEMORY OF MY LABOUR SERVICE TIME"), with an additional handwritten unit dedication for the Nünschweiler district RAD, the interior with non-paginated pages featuring handwritten entries, indicating that the owner was "GEORG HILPERT", born 14 August 1920 in Neuhaus, Höchstadt, whose RAD service spanned 1938-1939, pasted with five period photos, including one showing Hilpert in a RAD uniform and mounted on a motorcycle, measuring 100 mm (w) x 150 mm (h), protected by a transparent celluloid insert, measuring 103 mm (w) x 155 mm (h) overall, a unique and personalized RAD service memento in near extremely fine condition.
