Germany, Wehrmacht. An Afrikakorps Commemorative Ring
(Afrikakorps Ring). Constructed of a silver alloy (silver made of silver coins) with a thin sheet of solid gold on top, the obverse bearing a rectangular field overlaid by an etched Afrikakorps insignia in the form of a palm tree defaced by a mobile swastika, flanked by initials “DAK” and a date of “1941”, in turn flanked on the band by etched North African imagery, unmarked, corresponding to a size 9.75, weighing 14.2 grams, an interesting example commonly made by prisoners of war (POWs) in worn condition.
