Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Ship’s Clock
(Kriegsmarine Schiffsuhr). A well-preserved Kriegsmarine ship’s clock, constructed of a heavy polished brass casing, the obverse featuring a silvered faceplate with a 12-hour clock with Roman numerals, graded at intervals of five, retaining blackened magnetic metal hour and minute hands, with a central 60-second stopwatch face, set just above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika and letter “M” indicating Kriegsmarine use, the face secured in place with five visible magnetic metal rivets, the reverse rim perforated with three holes for rivet attachment, marked on the reverse with an additional Kriegsmarine eagle and code “III/3”, measuring 145 mm in diameter, there is some oxidation evident to the casing, the stopwatch is missing its hand, and the overall functionality of the clock has not been determined, in overall very fine condition.
