A Late War Single Decal M42 Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Stahlhelm
A single-decal Wehrmacht Heer (Army) steel helmet, crafted out of a sheet of molybdenum steel (magnetic) with its original dark apple-green paint on the interior and exterior of the helmet. It features stamped air vents on either side, as well as a crude, non-rolled/crimped rim along the entire helmet, making this a signature late issue M42 style helmet. The interior features an eight-panel brown leather liner, each with five stamped ventilation holes, and an additional hole at the tip for the drawstring. The underside of the skirt is stamped “C4C7” (undecipherable), without any other legible markings. The right side of the helmet features a signature Wehrmacht eagle decal that is approximately 95% preserved. It measures 276 mm x 240 mm in total and although it is missing its chin strap, drawstring, it is otherwise well preserved. The leather liner appears fragile and ripped in multiple places, and appears to have been previously oiled, giving it a rich chocolate-brown colour. The exterior of the helmet shows obvious signs of wear with slight chipping in the paint, while the interior of the paint on the helmet is nearly fully preserved. Overall, this battle-worn helmet is in near very fine condition.
