A No-Decal M42 1943 Wehrmacht Heer Stahlhelm by T. Hartzhüttenwerk AG
A no-decal M42 Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Stahlhelm by Thale Hartzhüttenwerk AG. The helmet is crafted of a sheet of molybdenum steel (magnetic), and is painted in a standard dark apple-green colour. It features stamped air vents on either side of the helmet, with a crude unrolled/crimped rim along the entire helmet, making this a signature M42 type helmet. The interior features a moderately worn standard eight-panel tan-coloured leather liner (a trademark of this maker), featuring five stamped ventilation holes, with an additional hole at the tip of the drawstring. The drawstring is constructed of tan-coloured twisted rayon. The headband is in good condition, with three of the panels having a ripped drawstring hole. The chin strap is mostly missing, with only the buckle remaining that is fastened to a short blackened leather strap. The underside of the skirt is stamped “CKl5650” for “Thale, Hartzhüttenwerk AG” - the Hartzhüttenwerk used “ET” as its maker mark during the early stages of the war, “CKl” as its maker mark exclusively in 1943, and then changed its maker mark to “CKL” in 1944. It measures 242 mm (w) x 288 mm (h). The paint on the exterior is well preserved, with light to moderate loss of paint on the exterior. The interior paint is well preserved, but also with light wear on the paint. Overall near very fine condition. (C:205)
