Germany, Heer. A Single Decal M35 Stahlhelm, by Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke
(Heer Stahlhelm M35). An extremely well-preserved, Canadian veteran "bring back" Heer single decal M35 Stahlhelm, constructed of a single sheet of magnetic molybdenum steel and retaining virtually all of its original Apfelgrün (apple green) paint. The helmet is flanked on each side by ventilation holes reinforced with separate magnetic metal grommets. Situated just below the left grommet is a decal in the form of a black shield defaced by a silvered Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 33 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) overall. Three rivets are distributed around the outer circumference of the shell, securely accommodating the interior fixtures. The rim of the helmet is fully crimped, providing for a smooth edge. A magnetic metal ring fully surrounds the interior of the shell, supported by the aforementioned rivets. Emanating from the ring are dual loops which accommodate an intact two-piece black leather chinstrap, adjusted with 13 eyelets stamped into the right strap meeting a functional aluminum buckle fastened to the left strap. Also affixed to the ring is an intact brown leather liner which culminates in eight fingers, each of which is perforated with five ventilation holes, as well as a hole at the top through which is looped a period original drawstring. Stamped onto the right side of the skirt is a code of “NS64”, indicating manufacture by Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke, Schwerte, and a shell size of “64” (accommodating liners of sizes 56-58). Also stamped onto the back of the skirt is a heating lot code of “5622”. An owner-attributed example, the right side of the liner bears a handwritten name of “ALBRECHT” in black ink. The helmet measures 23.5 cm (w) x 28 cm (l) x 14 cm (h). Demonstrating only minor, age-appropriate scratching and material fatigue to the metal and leather elements, respectively, it is in an overall extremely fine condition.
