Germany, DAF. A Werkschar Leader’s Overseas Cap, RZM Tagged
(Schiffchen für Leiter der DAF-Werkscharen). A well-preserved German Labour Front (DAF) Werkschar Leader’s overseas cap (General's rank equivalent), constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by non-functional fold-down side panels, secured in place with machine stitching and trimmed along the edge with gold bullion wire piping. An additional band of identical piping lines the outer circumference of the crown. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a triangular wool base overlaid by a hand-embroidered gold bullion wire German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 55 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). Directly underneath the eagle, the cap features two decorative gilded magnetic metal buttons, The interior is fully encompassed by a beige rayon liner, with the left side retaining a fully-intact Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) label bearing a manufacturer’s code of “A1/17”. Also stitched onto the liner is a brown leather sweatband set across the forehead, bearing an embossed mark of “ELEGANT”. The cap measures approximately 295 mm (l) x 130 mm (h) when folded flat. With only minor signs of material fatigue, it is in an overall extremely fine condition.
