Germany, Feuerschutzpolizei. An EM/NCO’s Visored Field Cap
(Feuerschutzpolizei Einheitsfeldmütze). A well-preserved Feuerschutzpolizei EM/NCO’s visored field cap, constructed of dark blue wool twill. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, gently scalloped at the front, offering optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two blackened magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a hexagonal black rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Ordnungspolizei insignia, topped by a tricolour cockade. The insignia measures 35 mm (w) x 45 mm (h). Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical dark blue wool. A brown rayon liner fully encompasses the interior, and is unmarked. The cap measures approximately 180 mm (w) x 245 mm (l) x 150 mm (h). Issues consistent with age and use are evident, and include some fatigue of the exterior wool, a crack through the centre of the visor core, and some deterioration of the interior liner. It is in an overall very fine condition.
