Germany, Heer. A Splinter Pattern Reversible Camouflage Helmet Cover
(Splittertarnmuster Stahlhelmbezug). A field-used Heer splinter pattern camouflage helmet cover, constructed of a multi-piece weatherproof cotton duck material, the exterior finished in a classic mottle consisting of a light brown base overlaid by irregular splotches of straight-edge dark brown interspersed with light green patches, with vertical green splinters distributed around the surface, the exterior featuring seven integral loops of identical construction for the optional insertion of foliage, the edge with a hollow channel through which is looped a white cotton drawstring for a secure fit to the accompanying helmet, the opposite side featuring a mottle consisting of a light green base overlaid by dark brown splotches with straight edges, similarly dotted with green splinters, lacking analogous foliage loops, unmarked, measuring 370 mm (w) x 190 mm (h), with fatigue consistent with age and use that includes some fraying of the stitching and a small hole to the right side of the material, in better than very fine condition.
