Germany, Luftwaffe. A Winter Field Cap, by August Schellenberg
(Luftwaffe Pelzmütze). An extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe winter field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is surrounded by multi-piece fold-down side walls, consisting of frontal and reverse visor with ear flaps, lined on the exterior with high-quality rabbit fur. When not in use, the ear flaps meet in the centre of the crown and are secured together with dual drawstrings. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece grey rayon-blended liner. Stamped onto the crown is a maker’s mark of “AUGUST SCHELLENBERG, BROMBERG”. It measures approximately 22 cm (w) x 24.5 cm (l) x 13 cm (h). The peak insignia has been removed, and minor soiling is visible to the interior liner, but the cap demonstrates no notable damage or wear and remains in an extremely fine condition.
