Germany, Luftwaffe. An EM/NCOs Tropical Overseas Cap, by Berolina
(Luftwaffe Tropen Schiffchen für Mannschaften). An extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe EM/NCO’s tropical overseas cap, constructed of a khaki-tan cotton twill. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped towards the front. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a light brown cotton/rayon blend, bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika. It measures 72 mm (w) x 36 mm (h) overall. Directly beneath the eagle, the cap bears an additional insignia consisting of a light brown cotton/rayon disc overlaid by a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade. The interior is plain and bears a stamped maker’s mark of “BEROLINA, BERLIN” with a manufacture date of “1942”. It measures approximately 27 cm (l) x 12 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no evident damage or wear, it is in an extremely fine condition.
