What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, NSKK. An NSKK-Mann’s Second Pattern Overseas Cap

(Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps Schiffchen). An extremely well-preserved National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) overseas cap, constructed of black wool. It is fully surrounded by stylized side walls, scalloped toward the front, which are secured in places with stitching along both sides. Unusually, the reverse back right side of the wall reveals a partially-legible stamped German language inscription. Stitched onto the left side of the crown is an insignia consisting of a triangular carmine rayon base, overlaid by a machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire NSKK insignia, measuring 52 mm (w) x 52 mm (h) overall. The use of carmine indicates personnel attached to Corps and Group leadership. Stitched onto the right panel is an aluminum edelweiss featuring gilded stamen indicating Austrian issue, which measures 55 mm (w) x 28 mm (h) overall. Completing the exterior features are two magnetic metal buttons stitched onto the lower peak, each bearing raised NSKK insignia on the obverse and a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “UE 82” for Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black cotton/rayon-blended liner. Stitched onto the crown is an intact RZM label bearing an illegible maker’s code, a secondary code of “33293”, and a handwritten owner’s name of “HAUER”. It measures approximately 300 mm (l) x 110 mm (h) when folded on a flat surface. The interior demonstrates slight wear and soiling consistent with light period use, but the cap demonstrates no other issues and remains in an extremely fine condition.
