Germany, Ordnungspolizei. A Landespolizei (State Police) EM/NCO’s Visor Cap, c. 1937
(Landespolziei Einheitsmütze). This is an extremely well-preserved Landespolizei (State Police) visor cap, constructed of dark brown wool twill with a green cap band. The peak of the cap is pinned with a zink tri-colour cockade with a red felt centerpiece, measuring 22 mm in diameter. Pinned into the centre of the cap band is a zink police-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika within an oval oak leaf wreath, measuring 55 mm (w) x 45.5 mm (h). The cap is flanked on each side by black magnetic metal buttons holding in place a black leather chinstrap, complete with two adjustable black magnetic metal buckles with accompanying loops, which rests upon the black vulcanfibre visor when not in use. The interior of the cap has a 43 mm-wide tan-coloured leather sweatband securely stitched into place. The interior also has a complete gold-coloured rayon liner, with a rhomboid transparent moisture guard at the top stamped “Feinestes Fabrikate”. The cap measures 233 mm (w) x 268 mm (l) x 163 mm (h). There is some fatigue to the exterior wool, along with some age-appropriate fatigue to the leather and vulcanfibre visor, but the cap is in an otherwise very fine condition.
