Germany, Ordnungspolizei. An EM/NCO’s M43 Field Cap
(Ordnungspolizei Einheitsfeldmütze M43). An Ordnungspolizei EM/NCO’s M43 field cap, constructed of a classic police-green wool twill. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, gently scalloped at the front, offering optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels rolled up and are secured in place with two brown bakelite buttons emanating from the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left flap. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia in the form of an elongated field-grey rayon hexagon, in turn bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Ordnungspolizei insignia topped by a tricolour cockade. The insignia measures 35 mm (w) x 52 mm (h). Completing the exterior features is a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor, notably free of any cracking or damage. The interior is fully encompassed by a field-grey rayon-blended liner, stamped on the crown with a Reichsbetriebsnummer of “0/0496/0340”, a manufacture date of “1943”, and a size mark of “57”. It measures approximately 215 mm (w) x 255 mm (l) x 120 mm (h). With only minor exterior soiling evident, it is in an overall extremely fine condition.
