Germany, OT. An Organisation Todt M43 Service Cap, with Identity Tag and Insignia
(Organisation Todt Einheitsfeldmütze M43 mit Erkennungsmarke und Insignien). A unique Organisation Todt (OT) M43 service cap, constructed of a coarse olive-drab cloth. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, offering optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two black bakelite buttons. Stitched onto the peak is a gilded aluminum Labour-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 65 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). A replacement piece, the eagle is missing three reverse attachment prongs. Completing the exterior features is a protruding visor of identical cloth construction. The interior is fully encompassed by a light brown cotton twill liner. Unmarked, the cap measures approximately 195 mm (w) x 245 mm (l) x 120 mm (h). Material fatigue consistent with age and use is evident, and the interior demonstrates some soiling. The cap is in an overall very fine condition. It is accompanied by a OT identity tag. Constructed of zink, it features a double-stamped inscription of “ORG. TODT 255629”, as well as three suspension loops. Measuring 70 mm (w) x 50 mm (h), it is accompanied by a white leather pouch measuring 85 mm (w) x 68 mm (h), it is in a very fine condition. Also accompanying the group are two OT sleeve badges, each constructed of a coarse olive-drab cloth. The obverse of each bears a machine-embroidered red OT insignia. Both measuring 75 mm (w) x 100 mm (h), the badges are in an extremely fine condition.
