What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s Visor Cap, Owner-Attributed Example

(Waffen-SS Schirmmütze für Männer und Unteroffiziere). A very well-preserved Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s visor cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap features reinforced side walls, fully lined on the exterior with a smooth black wool cap band. Both the top and bottom edges of the cap band are trimmed with lengths of white wool piping, while an additional length of identical piping trims the outer edge of the crown. Pinned onto the peak is a silvered zink insignia in the form of an SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the centre of the cap band is pinned with an additional silvered zink insignia in the form of an SS-style Totenkopf, measuring 32 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). The crown’s interior wire reinforcement has been removed, giving the cap a classic “Sattelform” (saddle shape) appearance. The cap band is flanked on each side by black-painted magnetic metal studs which secure in place a multi-piece black leather chinstrap, adjusted with dual functional magnetic metal buckles. When not in use, the chinstrap rests upon a protruding vulcanfibre visor which is finished in a matte black on the obverse and in grey on the reverse. The interior of the side walls is surrounded by a grey leather sweatband measuring 38 mm in width, while the interior is also fully encompassed by a slate-grey rayon liner with a high sheen. The crown retains a fully-intact transparent plastic diamond moisture guard, with a hollow slot inserted with a white cotton tag bearing a name of “FRITZ HAUPT” in Fraktur script. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 22.5 cm (w) x 25.5 cm (l) x 17.5 cm (h). Issues consistent with age and wear are evident, and include minor fatigue to the exterior wool which include a small spot of mothing to the crown, loss of finisht to the zink insignia, and minor soiling to the interior. A scarce cap retaining all original features in near extremely fine condition.
